Submission Guidelines

It would be an honor for MyFirstChapter.com to serve as a vehicle to display your creative works of art to the public. We do this as a free ministry to anyone called to be one of God’s precious artisans.

If you wish to sow seeds into our ministry please feel free to make a donation to MyFirstChapter Foundation. No amount is too small. (Mark 12:41-44) Simply click on the below button and we will gladly accept your donation.

Have your creative work considered for display on MyFirstChapter.com by following these instructions:

For literary works--Please send the work you wish to submit in Microsoft Word format. Your work(s) can be sent as an attachment to your e-mail or within the body of the e-mail. If problems occur sending it, an alternative method will be suggested by contacting SheliaAnnB@MyFirstChapter.net.

Send works via E-Mail to: submissions@myfirstchapter.net. The format of your work is important. The message should show:

Your full name
Pen name or name to be used on work
Your e-mail address and your mailing address
City, State, Zip Code
Contact Phone

Then:

Title of Work (centered)
Type of Work (i.e. Poetry, Essay, Fiction, Book Excerpt, etc)
Name of author or whatever name you want to accompany work.
Start your work with: "Start of work"
Two blank lines.
Then begin the story or poem.
For stories, indent each new paragraph five spaces.
Double-space body of work.
Two blank lines.
End your work with the words "End of Work."
Copyright date or date of creation.

Please make sure to indicate whether your work is poetry, a short story, an essay, or other types of work. This will help us place it under the right category. If untitled, please so indicate.

Please provide a brief biographical sketch and a photograph (in .gif or jpeg format) to be included with your work. The photo is optional and if you do not wish to have one included, please indicate that in your submittal.

Note: No personal info such as address, phone number, etc. will be displayed on the artist's bio page unless you request it. Only the e-mail address will be used to allow readers to contact you.

All other forms of creative work—visual art; music; audio or video recordings, etc.—please contact Shelia Benskin at 972 740-9368 or email her at SheliaAnnB@MyFirstChapter.net for further instructions.

The intent of MyFirstChapter.com is to help creative artists build audiences and provide a mechanism of feedback from those audiences.

Artists are provided written feeback that can be shared with publishers, which will hopefully influence publishing decisions. All content--stories, poems, music, visual art, inspirational messages, etc.—should be suitable for the general public.

While MyFirstChapter.com does not attempt to censor any work, we are a family oriented site. We encourage writers and readers as well as all creative artists of all ages to participate, and prefer to sponsor works that glorify man and the Creator.

Submitted work remains the property of the creator and is self-copyrighted. To find out more about copyrights, visit the U.S. Copyright's Office FAQ Page. While work submitted remains the property of the artist, the design and layout of the web pages will be determined by MyFirstChapter.com.

Publication Includes

Content on the site, biography and picture in the Directory and access to Forum for feedback from readers, listeners. viewers. Your content will be published for at least three consecutive months. All content is displayed at the discretion of MyFirstChapter.com.

By submitting works to MyFirstChapter.com, the creative artist acknowledges that said work is not in violation of any prior United States and/or international copyright agreements. The creative artist of said work also acknowledges that any legal recourse involving copyright infringement(s), plagiarism, and/or any other type of fraud is the sole responsibility of the artist(s) involved; thereby, exonerating MyFirstChapter.com completely.

Refusal of Publication

MyFirstChapter.com reserves the right to refuse for publication or posting to the web site, any work or related materials that it deems inappropriate our unsuitable for the site.

Original Work

All submissions should be the original work of the person sending the submission.

Simultaneous Submissions

Works submitted to other publications are acceptable, unless exclusivity restrictions are included in the publication terms of other providers. MyFirstChapter.com will honor the terms of those providers.

Personal Information

MyFirstChapter.com will not disclose, sell, or publicly use your personal information without your consent. This policy does not protect information you post to the discussion forum, the guestbook or any other portion of the site where information is input directly by the user.
